Tips To Make Your Pet's Photos Their Best
After photographing dogs, cats, birds and other pets for many years, we have found that the following little tips can make the photographic experience a good one for both you and your pet.

  1. Make sure that your pet has been fed at least one hour prior to the photography session. Once you arrive at the studio, we recommend that you walk your pet (if applicable) and let them get accustomed to the new surroundings.

  2. Unfortunately, some pet owners only take their pets out of the house when they are going to the Veterinarian. Veterinarian visits are usually not enjoyable for most pets. If your pet is conditioned to think that every time you put him/her in the car they are going to the Vet, they will be terrified when they arrive at our studio. We recommend that you take your pet in your car for some pleasant excursions. You could go to a park or to a friend or relative's house. Once you break the thought process that a car ride ALWAYS means a visit to that scary person in the white lab coat, the better your pet will be for photographs.

  3. Have patience during the photography session. Many pets will be anxious at the beginning of the photo session, but will settle down eventually. We have seen many pet owners give up too quickly. We can get good photographs in almost every session. Remember, we only need one or two good images.

  4. Bring a favorite toy to the photography session. Tell us how your pet reacts to the toy and then let us have it without your pet seeing it. With any stimulus, it will only work a few times before the pet get accustomed to it.

  5. During the photography session, stand directly behind the photographer. This way when you get your pet's attention they are looking where we want them to look.
